Are you afraid he's doing drugs again? Is there signs of it? Spending a lot of money or pills in his pockets etc? You say "he" is he your boyfriend, husband, dad, brother, friend? Did you know the person during the active addiction? How did he quit? Does he do anything to stay sober (going to AA, seeing a therapist etc.)? Research pill addiction. Learn what it's like to have the addiction, signs of addiction etc. Maybe you should join a group where there are other members who have family or friends that are addicted to pain killers.

You're always addicted. The addiction never ends unfortunately. It's just they decide to stay sober. There is no beginning and ending period. It's a path that they walk until they die and some venture off the path but make it back on, some never get off the path and some get off but never make it back. It's how you walk down this path with him that counts.
