  • Exotic to me means a zoo animal.
  • Ya I think they should be illegal, most people would not know how to look after them properly. When I think of exotic animals I think of Zoo animals.
  • Exotic to me is any animal not usually kept as a pet. And no, I really don't think that exotic animals should be legal without some form of pre-approval and licensing. Every year many pets are abandoned or killed because somebody think it would be cool to have a [insert-animal-name-here]. They don't research care requirements. They don't take into account impacts on home, family, environment, etc. They get bored with the no longer exotic animal. It's a damned shame. When you acquire an animal as a pet you take on responsibility for that animal's life and well-being. Instead, many animals end up being the biological equivalent of the latest X-box game or the latest fashion trend. Get bored with it, or scared of it, and out it goes. It sickens me.
  • A panda or giraffe or maybe a seal.
  • When an animal is ever taken from it's natural environment, for the purpose of the enjoyment of the owner it should not be allowed.Exotic pets are not domesticated like dogs ,cats, and some birds.
  • exotic would mean any naturally non-domestic animal whose wild instincts make it a threat. which would include most teenagers
  • It depends on the type of pet and exactly how it would be kept. Some people have adopted an exotic pet and it turned out very bad. This was in the case of monkeys or chimpanzees. I have read how the animal attacked someone and then it was put behind some sort of barred cage right in the man's living room. He was in fear of his chimpanzee attacking him again. To add to this each night the man sat holding the chimp's hand through the bars as they watched television. In some cases people don't use good judgment and I guess that is when the legal system steps in. In some states you can not own a turtle. They consider this a health hazard. I never thought of a turtle as exotic. I have owned a few. Exotic is something out of the ordinary--not a standard dog, bird or cat. Exotic means belonging to another part of the world. That is certainly a good term for some pets people choose to own.
  • If they are treated right. I want a pet penguin.
  • Pets ought to be ranked by danger, viability in the local climate, and reasonable ability to be kept captive in humane conditions. A panda is dangerous, and cannot reasonably be kept in captivity by most citizens, for example. Whereas a platypus is practically harmless (the females) and does not need more space than a house cat if the owners are properly informed.
