Just one more GREAT reason to have Universal Health Care like Canada and many other industrialized nations have!

It's all about the money, the bottom line. People who need medical attention is not fiscally sound. It's disgustingand cange is needed. I hope that the change that takes place will fix most of teh problems in the US. Great question.

Sadly it's all about money and not about the people that need care. Insurance companies only care about profit margins, regardless of whoever else has to suffer. :(

In our country, the person who pays the bills calls the shots about how the money will be spent. Only way to counteract the power of insurance co's to dictate treatment is to go back to complete private pay system where the individual requiring the treatment decides if its worth spending the money to get the service. Unfortunately, who can afford that anymore? We would have to get a massive tax break and then some to afford health care.

It's the golden rule. He who has the gold makes the rules.

No middle class person can afford proper health care if the get seriously sick. Only a Single Payer Universal Health Care system will make health care affordable and available to each and every citizen . .. It would cost less than $4000 per capita and should be paid for by the tax payer. The total would be about 1.1 trillion dollars --sound like a lot? Well, last year we spent 1.4 trillion and we didn't cover 55 million Americans. Insurance companies take out too much money from the health dollar. Their administrative costs plus profit range from 11-22%. Medicare administrative costs are less than 3% and there is no profit to pay out to shareholders. Some union plans have administrative costs of less than 7%. We're wasting huge amounts of the health care dollar by allowing private insurance companies to profit from the health business.
