an archangel is a rank in which angels are classed. archangels are the top known angels, their are two main thoughts one is their are 3 known, (this is the normal christian view)one for each of the parts of the trinity. The second is their are 7 and this is usually known in the more broad perspective of theology and the occult. the prior view of three is because their are only three named in the Bible, Michael Gabriel Lucifer. many debate on Lucifer but because of other references it is kept as dogma. because they are the only ones mentioned it gives the preception that they are the only ones. however they may be the top ones. for all we really know their could be thousands. hope that gives a little more info. +3 GOD BLESS
