I think it is to make cars too expensive to run on gasoline and the auto makers will switch to cars that will run on something else. (water would be great). That way we can give the oil companies the "razz"-berry.

You're reading The President of the U.S. signed a bill that makes auto company's improve the gas mileage in the new cars & pick-ups.This is to save the buyer money in the long run.My question is how is this going to stop big oil company's from just raising their prices?

We've had cars etc: that would work off H2o for a long time now. Only they would not let them out. I knew of a person who made a old Model T work off water. But they got ride of him quick.....
