No not at all. There is such a wide variety of American accents anyway it would be somewhat foolish to lump them all together, as it is with all regions. A Manchester accent and a Swansea accent in the UK are poles apart. Londoners often have difficulty with strong Scottish accents and so on. I am not as familiar with American accents but I am sure there is a similar variety.

As an American I'm going to guess here: not nearly so annoying as the Americans themselves.
