Help answer this question below.
His actions are not your responsibility. I would dump him and find someone better.
I am left wondering how long it is going to take you to wash your hands clean of this fellow. Since he just went to jail, I understand that the bond is still strong. Eventually, you are going to have to think this thing through.
Please DO tell the warden, or whomever. This is prolonging your BF's recovery, not to mention the problems it causes in jail amongst inmates. It may be the best thing you ever do for him.
"My" boyfriend.
The "My" part is very easy to fix. Do this immediately.
Dear John,
I have decided I do not want the life of a woman living with an alcoholic who cannot stop drinking even though he is in jail for drinking.
I hope for your sake that you will eventually manage to overcome your addiction.
Good bye.

someone like this is probably not going to change much in jail, in my experience with people that I have known that have gone to jail, many times they come out worse criminals or addicts than when they went in...so my advice would be, in the next year, don't do anything to try to change your boyfriend's behaviour and addiction...change yourself.
End the relationship, move out and move on with your life.
If you really want to help him kick the bad habit, you should tell the authority. +3
I would tell an authority. Why? Because he can get in more trouble and if they find out that you knew about him drinking you can get in some trouble to.
I really find this hard to believe.
Yes, notify someone and let them give him a sobriety test.
If this is the case, it will be dealt with through internal affairs and your boyfriend could be isolated.
I think this is a classic case of love him enough to do the right thing by him.
My suggestion is that you move on. Find a non-alcoholic to date.
its common for prisoners to make hooch with fruit cocktail. they are on camera 24/7, so eventually he will get caught and sent to the hole. he can dry out in solitary. So, NO, dont tell.
A better question is:
How long are you going to make his irresponsible actions your responsibility?
Let him get caught. Even if he tells you it's only hearsay. You could tell the prison and they might search his cell but I'm sure he's not dumb enough to leave the bottle in his cell. Maybe he wants to get caught so he can get help? I mean he's about hit rock bottom, if he drinks in his cell and gets caught he's going to find the bottom.
I'd stay out of the drama until he gets some sort of control. Right now drinking is all he cares about. It put him in jail and it's so bad he continues to drink it knowing that by doing so he'll receive even more punishment. He is what they would say in AA "insane".
Good luck!
just let him rot lol...in jail.
Someone is providing the alcohol. That's who will be in BIG trouble!
You might be telling the one that is bringing it in. The people in jail are not bringing it in. So that leaves the staff.
If you still want him to be your boyfriend, it wouldn't be a good idea to say anything.
Yes,if you care about him at all you will let someone know that he is continuing to ruin his life(and perhaps yours too)
Is this who you want to spend the rest of your life with? Raise kids with (trust your kids with -- trust your life with)? Take this time of separation and reflect on what you want with your life. Whether or not he is drinking in jail is almost a non-issue. It can't be about him, its about what is best for you.
