  • Bush would have no way of reinstating a draft, he's might of thought of it but lowering the standards are an indication that he knows the american people would not stand for it. He doesn't even have the support of much of his own party anymore. So sure he's brought it up and the people of the u.s. just gave him a firm stare and head shake...
  • No, that would never fly. Even W is not so stupid as to attempt to reinstate something that didn't work well the last time around, especially not in the political position that he is in right now. Even if he tried, it is unlikely that Congress would allow it to happen. However it IS a sign that we are desperate. We can't get smart, able-bodied, moral people to fight for us so we MUST lower our standards. Make of that what you will ;)
  • I belive that the congress has to ok the draft and our current congress would never ok it.
  • No, this war's to unpopular. And the country as a whole would never stand for it. The fact that they had to lower standards to get recruits proves that. What worries me is the safety of our men and women now that we are letting in people who are less then trustworthy or fit for service. To me it's a death sentence for them.
  • I seriously doubt that they will reinstate the draft because that would create a tremendous amount of social unrest and disorder. I suspect the reaction against a draft for Iraq would be even stronger and more widespread than it was in the sixties for Viet Nam.
