Help answer this question below.
Whose policies are they voting against? Don't the voters in that state elect their leaders? I would say they voted for those policies in the first place. The blame needs to be placed where it belongs.
Remember that when you point your figure there are 3 pointing back at you.
Are we fed up? Yes.
What's the solution? IMO, it's to split the state in two - Northern and Southern California to make it more manageable.
It's been proposed before and gotten nowhere. Maybe it's time.
I doubt there is an easy fix. There are many agencies that could use some trimming at the top levels.

You're reading California: Are voters fed up with being asked to bail out the failed policies of their state leaders? What are your thoughts re solutions?

I agree and I think we're going to see some recalls started too. I'd like to empty the whole legislature and exec office and start fresh. For a long time now, the choice at the voting booth has been between worse and more worse.
Our elected officials spend more time protecting their own power and influence than doing their jobs.

.
But here's the problem - the State is so diverse and so polarized that all we do is argue and finger point rather than develop cooperative consensus.
.
Until each of the groups starts cooperating and taking ownership for decisions I just don't see anything changing for our beloved state.
.
For example I despise Barbara Boxer.
.
But Northern California and the Entertainment Industry Oligarchy keeps sending this incompetent burned out hippy back to the US Senate again, again, and again.
.
I didn't vote for her - I never have but I can point fingers at Boxer and blame her for MY California not being well represented in the Senate.
.
That's just one of many examples I could cite.

I don't like Boxer either - and lots more. But I see it differently. Across the Board, all the elected reps refuse to cut spending, cut programs, cut useless agencies, worthless commissions, obsolete projects. They keep spending, keep taxing (we have the highest taxes and the highest population per capita in the nation) and never even trim when mass surgery is what is needed. This is Dems, GOP, every party, every diverse subgroup.
I think this latest rejection re props a thru e - is the electorate sending a strong message to the politicians - NO MORE BUSINESS AS USUAL.

I agree with your assessment.
.
A big part of the problem is that the people of the State seem to want more and more State Services BUT want someone else to pay for it.
.
If make that state smaller Northern California can't blame the "idiots" in L.A. while trying to steal their money, Southern California can't blame the "morons" in San Francisco while stealing their water, and Central California can't blame all of them while stealing their infrastructure.

I can't speak for everyone but I'm willing to cut many programs. I can give you a list of state agencies that could be eliminated tomorrow and no one would notice for a year...except the unions and the staff. And that's the point after all.
by Scifisuz on May 20th, 2009
Wow guys. You are bringing it all in. Maybe there needs to be two States where there is now one. Very interesting.

Pretty much says it for me too!
.
And Rollie, I can't speak for everyone but I'm mad as hell and I'm not gonna take it any more!
