I've published a few things just by submitting them to the magazines that I was reading myself.

    G'day midnightfyre1313,

    Thank you for your question.

Do you want to publish them on the internet or in print? If you want to print them on the internet, there are a range of blogging sites which will allow you to publish your views at no charge.

If you want to publish your poetry, you should send samples to publishers. Small houses that specialise in poetry are your best bet as the major houses don't publish much poetry. You should also start sending your poems to competitions and journals that publish poetry so that you start making a name for yourself.

Regarding your journal, it is unlikely that a publisher would be interested unless you are a well-known public figure. You could find a vanity press but you would have to pay to print it. You might want to wait until there is greater public interest.

I have attached sources for your reference.

    Regards

  • The best way is to get an agent who will deal with a publisher. Be very careful of online publishing firms known as POD. Print On Demand is popular now and most of them are scams. They publish your book then charge you to buy your own book back from them.

There are self publishing sites. There's one called, www.blurb.com .

Other than that, if you want to be picked up by a publisher, you need to learn how to write a queary letter, and look at publishers who work with poetry. Check out a book called, Poetry Market 2009. I will list all of the publishers (both major and minor). Be careful, however. Not all publishers are out for your best interest. Unless you go with a vanity press (like blurb.com) you should never pay to have your stuff read and reviewed for publication (I can think of only one legit publisher that still asks for a readers fee). You can also locate agents through magazines like Writer's Digest (same warning for publishers apply here). I think there's a publication called Poetry Digest...but not sure.

Make sure that all your ducks are in a row - grammar, spelling, etc. before you send it off. If you get a chance, have a friend look it over (one, preferably who is better in grammar than you). It's always nice, when you go out in public to have your hair combed, and to make sure your fly is up. LOL!

    Good luck!
