RAM is Random Access Memory, a temporary storage area used by your computer's CPU. It disappears when you turn the computer off. ROM is Read Only Memory, a small amount of read-only memory that holds instructions for starting up the computer. It stays in your computer even when you turn the computer off.

ROM stands for Read Only Memory and it is mainly used to distribute Firmware (Upgrades for hardware). This type of memory is also called "non-volatile" memory. This simply means when the computer is turned off, this memory will hold it's information. RAM stands for Random Access Memory and this is the memory that your computer uses to read and write to/from. This memory is known as "volatile" memory because once the computer is turned off, all information that was in the memory banks will be lost. Hope this helps!

RAM (random access memory) is where programs that are being used currently by the processor to run the program are held. This clears when you lose power or shut down the computer. ROM (read only memory) is where all programs on your computer are stored till needed. This is the hard drive; items stay stored here until you remove them. Hopefully i helped you.
