Absolutely. The more money we pump into the middle east the more money they have towards perpitrating ethnic hatred towards themselves and others.

long term yes we are less and less dependent on oil militarly, as we advance toward stand off weapons systems which use less fuel, nuclear engines are becoming smaller as are batteries for electric motors.

Well any student of 20thC war history will tell you exactly what the impetus for WWI and WWII was. It is not only sensible, but to my mind, necessary to call energy policy national security and defense issues.

Absolutely! I think that an interesting aside would be that there probably would have been a lot less wars in the 20th century if more countries (like Japan) would have had more natural resources and been not only energy independent but also resource independent. How many wars have there been because of covetting the neighbors goods.
