As stated before, the IDE controller on the Xbox motherboard will not support more than 2 devices. While I'm not sure if the DVD can be removed and replaced with a second harddrive, I am aware of a new product called the Xtender (Google search this one). The Xtender is actually an aftermarket case modification that holds 2 more harddrives, and has a built in IDE switch that allows the user to flip back and forth between different HD's. While all HD's may not be accessed all at once, the Xtender allows the user to have one HD installed with (for example) Linux, the other HD with an aftermarket BIOS and a ton of games, and the third HD being the original xbox drive necessary for playing on Xbox Live. The xtender is extremely professional looking and is molded for an exact fit to your xbox, eliminating the uber-ghetto look that is prevalent in so many home-brew mods.
