  • GCF = 6(7) + 9-3 GCF = 42 + 6 GCF = 48 GCF = 28-7 + 12 -7 GCF = 21 + 5 GCF = 26 The greatest common factor of 48 and 26 is 2. As for the LCM, I don't think I studied that haha.
  • So the two numbers are 42+9-3 = 48 and 28-7+12-7 = 26 The GCF is the greatest factor of both, which is 2. But it always bothered me ... how do you work it out? how do you know if you missed a factor? A systematic way is the Euclidean Algorithm: GCF of 26 and 48 is the same as GCF of R and 26 where R is the remainder when you divide 26 into 48. 26 goes once and R is 22. Now rinse and repeat: GCF of 22 and 26 is the same as GCF of 4 and 22 is the same as GCF of 2 and 4 2 goes exactly into 4 so GCF is 2 The least common multiple is just the product divided by the GCF. 48*26 divided by 2 LCM(48,26) = 624 Check: 624/48 = 13 and 624/26 = 24 and 13 and 24 don't have any common factor so 624 must be the least common multiple.
