ok, first off, I am against marriage
2nd. if 2 consenting adults want to do something as foolish as get married, then so be it. It shouldn't matter if it is a gay or straight relationship, to me, that is irrelevant.
3rd. the only things good about marriages is the dresses and the party and the drinking.

If two people are in love and want to spend the rest of their lives together..thats their choice..so who am I to say they shouldn't marry? Sexuality has nothing to do with it..we are living in the 21st century..if people don't like the idea..so what..it makes no difference..they are going to be living together why not marry!!

Yes. I live in a place where it is legal, and cannot grasp why there is such a reluctance still toward denying some this right. The ideology behind denying certain people this right seems in keeping with that which once denied women and minorities the right to vote. I am not religious myself, but generally respect the religions and associated beliefs of others. It is when these religious beliefs interfere with an individual's basic human rights and liberties (seems the most common argument against equal marriage rights) I become angry and am reminded of the importance of a seperation between chuch and state.

what a beautiful thing that'll be ruined by the chains of marriage!!! brrrrr!
    .
of course, i think that all people who are committed to marrying their partner ought to be allowed to do so.
    .
i think that the due process clause of the 14th amendment and the "interstate commerce" clause of the constitution supercedes the "defense of marriage act". right now, it should be recognized when performed lawfully in another state.
    .
gays ought to have explicit protection so that when a partner of 50 years cannot offer the doctor his/her opinion but a brother not seen for 20 years is suddenly next of kin, IT IS WRONG!

Civil Union. Not just for gay couples but for any legal union outside the church. The government should not be calling it marriage because marriage is a religious institution. Only the church should issue a marriage certificate and the government should issue certificates of legal civil union. No church, ever, should have any government or outside influence telling them who to issue marriage certificates to either. That is strictly an internal church issue and is at the sole discretion of the religious leaders of that church.
