Is it legal to add performance parts onto your car in NJ and if so is there some kind of process you have to go through to legalize it or can you just do whatever?

    you should check with your state laws first

    there are restrictions on how much horsepower a car may have legally. i believe it is nothing over 600 but i could be completely incorrect.

    there are also limits on how loud the exhaust and sterio could be. i believe nothign over 100 decibles

    also you should check your state laws about changing the color of or adding a color to the exterior of your vehicle. this would require you to go to the DMV and fill out more paperwork and talk with your insurance company which depending on what you do may raise your rates.
