Applying in person gives you the chance to leave a good impression and set yourself out from the crowd. But most businesses utilize their receptionist to collect resumes and you never get an opportunity to make contact with the decision maker. Applying online assures that the info gets to the right person. Just make sure that they know that you are still interested, if the hiring process drags on. Still interested, not desperate.

Going in person, if you can, is always better. But so many places have you apply online, then do not want you to call up and ask about the hiring process... Its so impersonal these days =(
