Help answer this question below.
Yes, for spiritual, health, ethical and environmental reasons.
Healthwise vegans consume less saturated fat, and avoiding meat and dairy reduces cholesterol related diseases as well as bowel cancer.
From an ethical point of view, I feel that if I can live a healthy life without slaughterhouse cruelty then I am morally obliged to do so.
Environmentally, the Earth does not have enough land for every person on the earth to eat a meat diet. If one eats meat, the land usage to support that diet, is more than one persons share of land if the earths agricultural land was separated out. A meat eater would need any thing from ten to twenty times more land to support their diet than a vegan.
A vegan diet saves approxiamately one acre of rainforest per year.
I am as well: because I dont really like meat and also because i wont eat anything i couldnt kill
I am.
It's rather hard to maintain it living in Texas. (As I'm sure you can imagine, Texas is not the best place to find decent tofu.)
But I'm proud to say that I haven't eaten meat in the last 8 years.
I am.
Yes I am vegetarian.I never particularly liked meat as a child and when I was at school I was shown slaughtering of animals on a video in Science. It affected me more than I thought,so I avoid meat and fish now.I don't push my views on others, it's just how I feel.
Meeeeeeeeee!!!!!!! I don't eat fish or chicken or anything, but I do eat milk, eggs, cheese and yogurt.
i am an ovo-lacto vegetarian --- which means that i do not eat meat, but i still consume dairy and eggs. i always make sure that it's 100% organic because this is to make sure the animals that give these products are in their natural habitat and are treated humanely.
i don't know how many but i am
I don't eat red meat, but I do eat fish, chicken and Indonesian people.

Me :)
I have been a vegetarian for 12 years. I don't eat red meat, poultry or fish. I occasionally eat eggs and dairy. I am what's called a lacto-ovo-vegetarian.
I was tortured by the thoughts of animals suffering in factory farms and never having any sort of natural life. I do not have any ill will against people who eat meat, but I think they should educate themselves about where the meat comes from so they can make smart, ethical choices to buy from good companies who monitor the practices of their meat suppliers.
Yes I am!! and I love it. Honestly I feel so much better ever since I became Vegan. It all started with the book Skinny Bitch. Then I kept researching and everything they said would happen did. I lost 15 pounds, I feel great and more energized. I also like knowing that I am helping the environment and keep innocent animals alive.
Most of the time, I am. Although I think I may need a 12 step program for cheese. ; >
I find the vegan soy and rice cheese is useful, and use it for topping spaghetti and tacos, but I really love love love cheese. So, I get the small quantity of cheese from a woman I know who has a small herd of goats - goats that are well loved pets.
i would like to be a vegetarian but my mom would prefer once i am older so that way i would be able to prepare my own food...its not that she wouldnt do its just that she doesnt know how to do vegetarian meals well. i tried it out at the beginning of this year, but it didnt work out too well :(
i am for vegetarianism, although i am not one i will eventually be one once i am older
I am. I do eat cheese though, and eggs, but only free range ones from my mother's hens.
I don't eat red meat but I do eat fish
so I guess I'm 50 - 50
and no dairy for me either ...
No im not, i enjoy the taste too much
Count me in!
Me. Vegan chiming in.
I'm a lacto-ovo-vegetarian. I have tried a few times to go vegan. First I tried excluding one product at a time which didn't work for me and then I tried to cut out everything at once which I failed at miserably...didn't make is past lunch. I though being vegetarian would be difficult but it's one of the most easy (and humane) choices I have ever made. :]
I dont eat or wear animals or their by-products because i've evolve past being a caveman/Troglodyte by now~

iam a 2nd generation vegan , my kids are 3rd generation vegans all of my family members are vegans. and we are vegan because we are allergic to all animal products and by products.
I'm not sure, but I'm another you can add to your list :]
probably lots and lots.
No, because meat is good for me.
+5
not, the cow mooooooooooed and i said yummmmmmmm
Yes I am. I will list a few reasons. It makes the world a better place for you, the person reading this right now. It's the ethical choice. I'm against cruelty to animals. I don't enjoy killing or having sentient beings killed for my selfishness. A decomposing piece of animal is a disgusting thing to eat!
It's the biggest thing someone in the civilized world can do for the environment. I don't want arteriosclerosis / a heart attack, or stroke. Cancer is reportedly 20% - 50% dietary linked. Less risk of diabetes.
I believe that vegetarianism is the only way to live a healthy life and respect it at the same time.
No I am not.
Why?
because a man NEEDS his meat.
Me. I was almost a vegan and now vegan all the way, after I saw videos like these that told the ugly truth.
Yes, I am. I am because I care for animal rights.
Meat is murder.
Go to peta.com to find out more.
No, I am not. My omnivorous digestive system tells me my place in the circle of life, and I respect that.
No.
I am vegetarian because when I was much younger some of my siblings became vegetarian and now eat meat again, but because I haven't eaten meat for a long time I don't like it and can't stomache it.
But I still love milk, cheese and yoghurt!
Oh and eggs are ok too.
None of me are vegetarian nor vegan. All of me are omnivorous, requiring a balanced diet that includes animal as well as vegetable products, in order to be strong and healthy.
I'm not a vegetarian...not at all. I actually just ate a large steak six hours ago. Mmmm, delicious. I guess I don't have what it takes to be a vegetarian, because I could never give up meat, especially since I'm not sure what good being a vegetarian does for you.
Nup because I like and need meat
But I have friends who are and totally respect that
I've tried vegitarianism... doesn't work for folk like me...
I cant afford "protein substitutes"! I know soybeans are protiens, but they are not cheap!
If you could make a "Veggie burger, under a dollar" I might get it...
Right now raw cow flesh is cheaper than fresh lettuce, so don't be pissed at me, be pissed at life!!!
i'm actually thinking of becoming one.
A vegetarian is an issue that is important, that takes experienced attending regarding
Meeeeeeeeeeeeee :)
And proud!
I am not, but I imagine it would be out of respect to nature and human values. I whole heartedly agree that we have a whole industry devoted to slaughtering other creatures and this is unacceptable, however I have not done much about it. I will, gradually, cut down on meats and turn to vegetarianism, although it is more difficult to include proteins in your diet, it is overall more healthy, natural, sustainable, pastoral and a humane substitute to our mass "production". We are humans, and we are meant to rely on our intelligent and peaceful instincts to feed ourselves (ie. crops) but I think the taste of meat and such has just really hooked us. According to my blood type (A), I shouldn't be eating excess meats anyway. Blood type O apparently is the original blood type hence meat-eating is encouraged.
If we MUST eat meat... at least in a "painless" way. Veal is something I would never touch, nor is shark fin etc.
Yes. Because I have no right to use force and crafty methods to rob another's flesh to feed myself when there is abundance of wholesome plant based foods that nourish the body as well as the soul. There is no excuse for taking lives, no matter how you want to twist it.
I am a human being after all and I should therefore act conscientiously in this manner, otherwise I wouldn't be able to call myself a human being, or to live with myself, if my existence is to destroy lives in every mouthful of every meals. Such existence would make me more of a parasite to the world and other innocent lives than a human being.
Also, our world is in big trouble and is calling for veganism as the solution. 80% of pollution will stop, 80% of global warming will stop, if the whole world become vegetarian. To save me explaining, please refer to the videos.
According to http://www.answerbag.com/a_view/4646999 , 5 of them are. ;)
Yes, most definitely! Very easy to be one in the Twin Cities with a huge variety of restaurants, and progressive minds.
PETA..People Eating Tasty Animals!!!

why-save the animals and the earth
why not-hard to resist. hard to get all nutrients.
No .... but i always think of being one !

Why do you ask? Seriously - not trying to incite anything.

Good leaderships from responsible governments should make veganism compulsory if we can save that much rainforest. Rainforest acts as giant carbon sink to absorb the excess CO2 from the atmosphere. Everyone is reponsible and hence needs to play their part to halt global warming.
