There should be five monkeys instead of three. Smell no evil and feel no evil should be added.
It referrs to the idea that he wants to see no evil, hear no evil, and speak no evil. With no input or output, it is considered unlikely that evil will invade the mind itself.
Thanks i thoguht it ment if you closing those three senses you will see things clearer in the spirit.but i was pretty to close to the idea.
If someone reachs Nirvana in the buddhist belief and becomes free from rebirth what happens to the energy if the person can't be reborn.

You're reading Whats does that statue with the monkey closing his eyes,ears,and mouth mean?is he trying to close his senses if so why doesnt he close his forehead area?
