Help answer this question below.

Another acne question. When a whitehead forms, do I pop it or leave it be? I can't see why I should't pop them, or else they won't be cleaned out. Help!

    Don't pop them! I know it's tempting but leave them be. Popping causes scarring.

    I think it's less a concern about scarring as spreading the infection. Squeezing forces the pus into adjacent skin pores and may infect them. However, I never had that problem or scars from pimples.

    Soon as I saw a pimple etc. I'd soak a cotton ball in alcohol and takpe it over the spot and usually gone over night.

    I dunno about all this "don't pop them, it'll leave scars" -- obviously I'm one person against five, but I always pull the top off with my fingernails or a pin and squeeze the goop out. I don't notice any scarring. I've got a teeny scab right now, because I had a zit that i had to dig at until it would break-- and that i don't recommend doing, it just hurt like hell and I couldn't take it anymore-- but that's it.

    Especially when there's a big gross whitehead under a lot of pressure-- I'd rather pop it above the surface than leave it and maybe have it break beneath the surface (which is why you're not supposed to *pinch* them).

    But go ahead!
    It doesn't leave scars unless u CONSTANTLY have them and CONSTANTLY pop them.

    but only pop whiteheads.

    b/c whiteheads stand out, and are more noticeable.

    but red spots aren't.

    i would rather have a red spot then in a whitehead.

    just make sure that afterwards you wash it, more than likely it will be kinda sore, 2.

    you shouldnt pop them b/c it could lead to scarring. you should use facewash to get rid of them so that way it wont lead to scarring and they will be properly cleaned out.

    Trust me... im a victim to acne since I was 14 years old, I am now 20.... you can pop them without it leaving a scar. Its not recommended but if you really have to, sterolizle the most thin needle you can find with hot water and slowly stab the tip of the whitehead until it breaks and the puss comes out. Than with a tissue gently squeeze around the whitehead, not the whitehead itself and let the puss pour out until its just blood... than quickly wash ur face with a cleanser, astringent and moisturizer, let the moisturizer dry and put benzyol peroxide 10% on the pimples. Trust me, acne is stubborn but what I just told you fights it pretty good. I recommend the clearasil ultra acne fighting solution kit. Keep doing this routine day and night twice a day and in about 3 weeks your face will be a WHOLE lot clearer. It will never be fully clear that may take months... but in 3 weeks you'll see a huge difference. Stay consistent bcuz if you stop the procedure you'll break out even worse.

    DONT POP THEM! that leaves scars! put toothpaste over them wit a bandaid over night... it will cause it to go down
