Question

Help answer this question below.

The following link has raised a very interesting question to me. "If the human brain actually facilitates religion, why would that be necessary to human life?" What do you think?

    I loved the answer:
What we found to our amazement was, every time they looked at religious words like 'god' they get a huge big galvanic skin response. Conversely, if you showed them a sexually loaded word, these patients showed a slightly lower response. In other words, their response was higher to words about god and religion and lower to sexual words, whereas in most normal people it's the other way around.

Normal people? that is a loaded term...;-)

As a commited christian, I find the article interesting indeed, but I wondered why Dr Dawkins had such a low temporal lobe sensitivity...is that normal? lolol

The premise of the question is, of course, wrong. It is not the brain that facilitates religion nor any kind of metaphysical awareness, but rather, the spirit, which is not confined to a bodily organ.

I suppose it could be postulated that spiritually developed people are better equipped to handle stresses or other problems that shorten the lifespan, but that would remain to be proven within carefully defined and specific nomenclature.
