I can't imagine how he makes them look worse than their pedophiles do.

Um, no.....He'[s gay and he can't help the way he feels...so he said it. I'm sure the church isn't happy, but he probably feels a lot better.

The church makes itself look bad, it does not need any help.

the catholic church has never looked good. I mean they tortured and killed their own god, or his son. I wish people would wake up.

The Roman Catholic church has known for hundreds of years that some priests are bound to have a homosexual orientation. Having an orientation and acting on it are two different things. Priests take a vow of celibacy. Whether an outsider agrees or disagrees with this vow is irrelevant. Once taken, the vow should be adhered to.

If Weakland observed his vows, then how does it make the church look bad? If he did not observe his vows, then he is no better or worse than the heterosexual priests who have violated the celibacy rule.

Frankly, what has made the RCC look bad is the pedophile scandals of recent memory, both hetero- and homosexual, and the church hierarchy's attempts to cover it up and sweep it under the carpet.

Over the past 5 years Catholic leaders are all confessing their sins to not only God, but mankind and we have no right to judge, only God does and we all know they will have to answer to goe. We can hate what they did, but not them as people.

It would make the church look good if they accept him and treat him as any other member!
