  • My friends sister lost her leg and now is a model for the company that provided her prosthetic leg.
  • Definitely. It may not be the catwalk, but then again, it may be. There are models for certain body parts, such as hands, feet, legs, arms, face, etc.
  • Models these days come in all configurations. Many companies like Sears and Kids R Us have featured models of mixed race, models in wheelchairs, models wearing an eye patch, and so forth. The days of the Greek gods are long past, so sure, go for it.
  • I'm sure you can find work as a model, and even make a career out of it.
  • yes and no. No offense this is not my personal opinion, but I worked in the modeling business for 6 years and let's face it, you have to be 5'9" and 100 lbs to do runway and to do print work you have to be not only attractive but have to get out there, find a good agent, etc etc..I won't go into all the ins and outs of the modeling industry but generally it is perceived that handicaps or injuries are not beautiful. I've seen agents tear girls apart because they had a small scar or a few dimples in their ass. But I do not mean to sound discouraging, there could be work for you, though it may be in a specialized area such as modeling products for people like yourself, or if you did print work where your handicap was not visible. It's a shame but with all the thousands and thousands of people trying to get into modeling, even the littlest flaw can get you turned away. My advice, get some headshots and zed cards made, send them out to a few agencies and see what they have to say. But without going into a big rant, let me tell you, the modeling industry is a lot more about money spent, deals made, who you know, where you live, and how trained you are than it is looks..pretty faces are a dime a dozen. Do you have any formal print or modeling training? Do you have headshots, comp/zed cards?
  • I don't know much about modeling but I suspect you could. I remember seeing kids in wheelchairs in a Walmart or Target circular. There are also jobs for hand models and sunglasses models. . I don't know why you couldn't do runway work for that matter. . Good luck!
  • You are 5'7" and you sound smart. Why in the world would you want to work as a model? You can do much better. By the way, you remind me of that episode of Boston Legal, do you watch it? :P
  • Here's a video of somebody modelling: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QutC8_5o9bE I think she looks lovely and very attractive.
  • If you are persistent and think outside the box, I'm sure you can find some way to have a wonderful modeling career. You could evan be a model for an orginization to help people with physical disabilities. I'm sure it has been done before and evan if it hasn't, there has to be a first time for everything! Best of Luck.
  • I'm sure there is something out there for you.
  • Sounds like you have a dream, without a dream we are nothing,, so pursue what you want to do with your life and your name 'always hope' sums it all up! because there is always hope for everyone and I hope you attain all that you can in the life you were fortunate to be given!! Best of luck!!
  • You are unique because of you're disability. And there is a gap in the market to represent so I would say to contact modeling agencies and find out. Remember not everybody is the same and although modeling agencies like to stereotype the mainstream girls, they also like to represent all aspects of society occasionally as well.
