One visit won't change anything. The mutual antipathy runs too deep between those nations.

I just wonder what powerful strategy the Pope has at
his disposal to accomplish that. One thing is certain,
the Palestinians need their land--to be given back all
their occupied territories. Can the Pope convince Israel to do just that? I won't hold my breath.

    Popanna,

I do not have anything against someone trying to inspire peace and respect to two nations that have been at war for so many years.

As for what I believe, I do not think anyone on this planet will ever succeed at accomplishing any peaceful deal between these two nations.

When you are taught from birth to hate certain people. Very little can be resolved. Both nations are equally responsible for teaching their children about this hate.

The people fighting are Jews and Muslims and don't give a flying f$$$ what a Catholic Pope has to say. It's a joke, actually.

The Pope is just a figurehead. Not the United Nations. He will try and fail because no popes have ever stopped a war.

No sin rules the world and the Bibles tells us that only love and goodness can keep destruction from happening and people do not want that. Greedy sin rules the world right now.

No, he will not. He will fail as many peace-makers in the past failed.

  • Nope. They'd have to learn from a leader they respect, not him.

Why? Is there something special about the old man in the dress and pointy hat that the rest of us rational people should know about?
