I've spent 30 years in the field of insolvency and financial crisis management. In my wildest imagination I cannot envision any way other than bankruptcy or direct federal intervention to get the necessary concessions out of all the parties involved.

I would say so, yes. I think it would have been better run if there was a random number generator making decisions in the company. They're getting rid of Saturn and Pontiac, the two most innovative groups within the company, and getting rid of dealerships (which should make it hard to sell any cars...) so wave bye bye
