Yes. Once helped stop a rape (friend of my wife was the victim) and once helped with another guy hold a guy at a store when he was trying to hold up the cashier.

I didn't really help stop a crime, but I helped apprehend the person who committed it. A young man mudered his father in Chicago, and fled to Arizona to be hidden by his mother. I was a big scanner buff in those days, and heard the ATL (attempt to locate) given on the police radio. I had seen him in the store I was working in earlier that day. He had applied for credit, and had provided an address. I called the police, and he was picked up at that address, and arrested for murder.
