  • A 128MB memory card can hold about 100 pictures with a 3.2 megapixel digital camera shot with the maximum quality.
  • "Max-Quality pictures" for 3.2 megapixel, you're actually probably only going to hold a little under 80 pics on a 128mb card, at least, this has been my experience.
  • This is dependent on the format in which the picture data are stored, the compression algorithm (if any) used, and the contents of the photograph. As a very rough rule of thumb, you can probably figure on 1.0 to 1.2 MB per image using high-quality JPEG format. This would provide you with about 100 to 125 images. If you shoot in RAW format, your image will typically require over 5 MB and you can expect about 20 images. Uncompressed TIFF images could require as much as 10 MB each, leaving you with just about 10 images on the card. Lossless TIFF compression formats consume less, but the amount is very dependent on the picture contents. Pick the highest quality image format that you can tolerate and consider how much control you want over the output. I have a 5 MP camera and use the highest quality JPEG format for snapshots and RAW format for anything serious. Jst sy no t lssy cmprsion.
