It depends what you class as reconciliation. The best that can be hoped for is to presuade both religions to 'live and let live' and tolerate the existence of each other.
.
In religious terms though a reconciliation is impossible because the two sets of beliefs are at odds with each oher at the most fundamental level.
.
Christians believe that Jesus was the son of God and effectively part of God. They pray to him and worship him because of this.
.
Muslims believe that Jesus was a great prophet but was purely human in the way that Moses was. He was blessed by God but was nevertheless simply a human prophet. They believe that there is only one God, Allah and that Mohammed was his messenger, and the greatest and last prophet sent by Allah.
.
When you get down to the basics of the situation, the Christians believe that Mohammed was telling lies when he says that Jesus did not die on the cross and was not the resurrected son of God. Muslims believe that Christians are worshipping at least two Gods (God and Jesus) which goes against the basic tenat of their religion, which is that there is only one God.
.
The Pope can dance around the problem as much as he likes on TV and visit Mosques for publicity reasons but this does not get around this basic difference between the principal beliefs of each religion.
There has to be conciliation before there is reconciliation.
It might happen when the Muslim leaders of the world stop trying to torture, shoot, and explode any person who isn't Muslim.
Ain't gonna happen
To some, yes.
To all, no.
A complete reconciliation will take a miracle. Fortunately, both Muslims and Christians believe in miracles.
With love in Christ.
Pope is concern with the safety of the minority of the christian believers in the Middle East. That is why he is reminding the religious leaders to put their views of division one side and concentrate more on being peaceful which is what 'RELIGION' should be in the name of God/Allah??
Partial, sort of secular reconciliation maybe possible - religious never (short of a miracle). Both sides have “missed the mark” by mile. Satan would have to be sleeping on his job for ‘reconciliation” to take place.
To a true Christian as with true Muslim, love continually reconciles one to another, as Love is God. God understands the “love language”, regardless of the culture, creed or “religious camp”
I think It is mostly fear from the Muslim side, and pride form the Christian side that often eradicates the power and workings of Love. In my opinion when a person seeks God with his/her whole heart, mind and soul – at one point in their life, they are pointed to Christ – the redeemer of the whole mankind. It is only through knowing Him that the power (Love) is attained in order to truly reconcile and love one another regardless of race or creed….
In Christ..
Only if he coverts to Islam.
At least he stated the obivise but my answer is no, because their are non-Catholics as well as Catholics who won't cooparte with Musilms. And fundmental Catholics well only accept what the pope says that bentifts their (The pope said the death pental, war in Iraq, is wrong and globle warming is real yet they won't change their minds)
But I supported him before he said this. All of us must learn to live in religious tolarance.
what kind of christians (not all christians accept his authority) what kind of muslims?
What does the pope wear to sleep?

You're reading Pope urges religious reconciliation between Christians and Muslims. Do you think Benedict XVI can sell this message? See LINK:
