The male will build a "Bubble Nest" and mate with the female, then run her off. After they mate, remove the female or he'll kill her. The male will tend the nest, gently mouthing the eggs that come out and spitting them back into the nest. When the eggs hatch, the male will keep the fry close to the nest. Eventually, they will get tired of him herding them. At that point, he should be removed.

Just the males I think. The females are no threat to them. Just do it and watch you can take it right back out.

I'm pretty sure all bettas have to be kept separate, or they DO harm each other. It doesn't matter if they are two males...still dom't think they are supposed to be kept together. But you can ask someone who works in a pet store.

Is it okay to put two with different color fins in the same tank? I really want a blue one and a red one in the same tank, but do they come pink and purple as well? I want to put the boys in one tank and the girl in another because I don't want babies.

Never, ever put 2 males in 1 tank. breeding bettas is very hard so do your reaserch or else you won't have the right food, equipment, ect. Btw I'd hope you have 500 containers for each betta fry. Pet store bettas are the crappiest bettas for breeding. P.S (if you put 2 males in a tank they rip each others fins off and kill each other)
