In the UK its a bit of a grey area since it isn't codified. The main (theoretically official) language is English - however Welsh, Sottish Gaelic, Lowlands Scots, Cornish and Irish/Ulster Gaelic are all officially recognised. So either none, one or six depending on how you want to judge it!!

none and i hope we keep it that way. official language campaigns are often driven by racism and xenophobia, targeted mostly at one ethnic group, hispanics.

I live in America, and English is the official language. Just because America is a melting pot, but it doesn't change English is the first language taught, and the language that you take a test on when you get citizenship.

I live in the USA which does not have an official language. English has been proposed as an official language but was never adopted. Benjamin Franklin also proposed Hebrew as the official language, which was likewise turned down. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Languages_of_the_United_States

Irish(Gaeilge)is our first official language but we all mostly speak english. and english is our second official language. So two would be the answer.
