You should probably get them extracted if they are causing you pain, but if you don't want to, there is wax that they sell for use with braces that you can stick on the outer edge of your teeth to push the cheek away farther so it won't get bit. Ask your dentist or a local orthodontist. I'm sure you can find it online as well.
I have the same problem, but I dont want to get them removed. I am using baby nighttime orajel and it helps but I can still feel my cheeks a little... they say that wisdom teeth shift ur teeth when they come in...is that true>????
I have this problem right now. It's definitely more annoying than painful, especially when they are more swollen than usual one day and I try to eat solids on that side of my mouth. UGH!
I am a Odontophobe so whenever my teeth hurt, I get vicodin. I still have my wisdom teeth and probably will never have them removed *shudder*
You could use that numbing gel that they use for teething babies.
I really don't know if there is a way to speed up learning, other than to bite down slowly and to practice moving your cheeks out of the way of your teeth.
I didn't have this problem with my wisdom teeth, but I had it with my regular teeth, and I think it took two or three years for my mouth to adjust. I still have lines of scar tissue along the inside of my cheeks, nearly twenty years later! They are much faded and no longer bother me,though.
im going through some serious pain... my whole left side of my face is swollen and in serious pain. i have no insurance so i dnt kno what to do. this pain is getting unbearable tho
Check more carefully.
Sounds as if you're chomping like a horse with a fresh bucket of oats.
All I know is that this shit hurts
Having the same issue, I put a cotton ball over there while sleeping to keep from biting down in my sleep and sometimes I use the cotton ball while eating or I shove all the food over there like a chipmunk and it keeps the cheek away from the tooth...that is until the food is gone. OY And I have a fear of dentists so I literally CANT have mine removed.

You're reading My wisdom teeth are all coming through, every time I close my mouth they bite my cheeks. My dentist said the cheeks would learn to stay out of the way, but is there anything I can do to speed up the learning and ease the pain?

Also use a little ora gel to ease the pain of your already sore cheeks while you get used to the wax and what not

Great idea with the wax psycho! I used to have that stuff for my brace. :) Thanks too for the tip, PP. The gel sort of slides of my cheeks. It doesn't really work, but I'll keep trying!
