Okay im sixteen and pregnant by my nineteen year old boyfriend we want the child but my mother think of it as a mistake so she is making me get an abortion if i get an abortion can she still have him arrested?

• In SC the minor can be no less than 16 and the other party may not be more than 4 years older.The minor is still a minor untill 18.However to attach a criminal charge the older party must be 4 years older than a minor over 16 years and one day and less than 18 years of age. I hope this helps

• This is incorrect. The age of consent in South Carolina is 16, no law was broken and there is nothing that can be done to the boyfriend.

• We'd probably have to dig deeper into the SC law precedents to know. I doubt that he would be in much trouble, but I'm not a lawyer. There is a predominant myth in America that the age of consent is 18: that is only true in a fraction of the states. In most states, it ranges from 16-17. Some form of this question comes up a lot on AB :)

• If she was 16 when they had sex, it was not illegal. The age of consent in South Carolina is 16. But who is "Maury"?
