  • No, it is not a mecca. It's more of a refuge of sanity. New England is where regular people have normal relationships without legal prejudice. Here in Massachusetts there are no shrines to same sex marriage, no fleets of airplanes conveying multitudes of perverts to Sodom's playland. The sky does not fall, there are no day or lesbian orgies on the streets, no "promotion of the homosexual lifestyle" or "the gay agenda." My parents, my sister, my minister, and my elderly neighbor are unconcerned that same sex marriage threatens their relationships with their husbands. My aunt from North Carolina and her partner of 34 years were happy to come here to get married, but they view New England more like a freezer with impossibly high housing prices than a Mecca. They were happy to return immediately to North Carolina where only their close friends know or care that they had married.
  • Lately, yes - MA, CT, VT, Maine, with NH soon to come (where are you, RI?).
  • Not specifically for that, just a beacon of civilization and respect for human and civil rights in general. Their support for treating gay and lesbian people with the same respect as everyone else is just one of the side-effects.
