How do the French pronounce their r's? I can't quite get my tongue around it.

    the letter r is pronounced like "air" with a bit of phlem at the end. Squeeze the back of your throat so you ALMOST make a gargling noise and let up slightly

    The ability to trill the r's is found in the "uvula". In high school I had a great teacher who was very smart but lousy at pronunciation. So he would have me read the text out loud, because he said I had a "very facile uvula". When he spoke French the class laughed because he just didn't "have it" and he knew it and always apologized to us. That was his only "defect", if you can call the inability to pronounce French properly a defect. We loved him..he was funny, so smart and tons of fun to have for a teacher! :)

    the letter "r" is pronounced like "air", but I think you mean like the "r" in "rose"?

    It kind of sounds like a snarl coming from your throat.
    It's hard, but I'm sure you can do it!
