  • You've got that army logo on your avatar, you should know! They teach it in the military. Southern kids are usually brought up that way too. It's a respect thing. When you're talking to someone, it can be considered rude, deceiving, or insecure, to be looking everywhere but in the person's eyes. It's out of consideration for the person you're talking to, to maintain eye contact throughout the conversation, because they will feel more involved, or that you are more involved in the conversation.

If your eyes are everywhere but engaged with the other person's eyes, it could be taken as rude, deceitful, or insecure. Either way not the kind of message you want to send when talking to anyone.

  • It depends on the culture. Some cultures actually see it as disrespectful. Others see it as disrespectful NOT to. I prefer someone look me in the eye as I do with others but sometimes I think people are intimidated by it.

  • It means they are most likely telling the truth. Unless they know you are looking for it. Then any liar can look you in the eye. But then they look very uncomfortable.
