  • I'm not sure, but if the 7 Eleven stores are open seven days a week, 365 days a year then why do they have locks fitted to the doors?
  • well, it's because the first stores where opened from 7 am to 11 pm, then they started calling it 7-11, well, 7 to eleven. makes sense.
  • http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/7_11#History This says because they were originally open 7-11
  • When they drew up the plans the the new concept of shopping, it was like a crap shoot. They were/not sure how well the business was going to do. It was a gamble, so they figured if they was throwing the dice what’s the best number to come up with a win. 7 & 11 was the winning members so a name was born. 7-11
  • The store was open from 7 to 11; hence the name.
  • HI, I WORK FOR 7/ELEVEN AND HERE IS WHAT OUR WEBSITE WWW.7ELEVEN.COM SAYS: "The company's first convenience outlets were known as Tote'm stores since customers "toted" away their purchases, and some even sported genuine Alaskan totem poles in front. In 1946, Tote'm became 7-Eleven to reflect the stores' new, extended hours - 7 a.m. until 11 p.m., seven days a week. The company's corporate name was changed from The Southland Corporation to 7-Eleven, Inc. in 1999." I HOPE THIS HELPS.
