  • Bidoon (meaning "without") is a term used in Kuwait to refer to residents of the country who do not hold citizenship. Bidoon may be refugees who have illegally entered a Kuwait to avoid poverty or war, or those who have settled there since 1920 but who have not been recognised by the state. Before 1990, the majority of bidoon were Bedouin settlers from the northern Arabian Peninsula. Following the invasion and subsequent liberation of Kuwait in the early 1990s a large number (estimated at between 50,000 and 85,000) of Iraqi refugees remained in the country. A further 10,000 to 20,000 further refugees of Palestinian origin have since joined them. The government of Kuwait have stated it is their intention to assimilate the bidoon, granting them full citizenship. In May 2000 up to 36,000 bidoon who had been resident in Kuwait since 1965 were granted citizenship, and 2001 the same rights were extended to bidoon husbands of Kuwaiti women. The numbers granted citizenship have since fallen to between 600 and 2000 per year. Bidoon is not the same as Bedouin btw, a term generally applied to Arab nomadic groups, who are found throughout most of the desert belt extending from the Atlantic coast of the Sahara via the Western Desert, Sinai, and Negev to the eastern coast of the Arabian desert. • It's Bedouin. There are two types of Arabs (not only in Kuwait), the local arabs and the desert arabs(bedouins). They are differentiated from their economical status, skin color, and behaviour. Local Arabs - are white skinned caucaseans, rich, hospitable and extravagant. Bedouins - are dark-skinned or dark-/dirt-brown skinned caucaseans, poor, and have wild attitudes and simply out-of-the-modern world.

  • dalkoptry It is obivously with no doubt that you are just a one of the thousands of careless supposdly alleged human beings living in this oil rich country Kuwait. A country that has one of the highest capita in the world sadly still contains a huge portion of the people living on it to be under poverty level. The UN must have harsh and sharp actions against these inhumans acts commited by the Kuwaiti government. dalkoptry is a great example of why those people are suffering! You Arab learned nothing from the west or their ideas. The only things that you Arabs learned is how a westerner dresses and what type of food they eat (Macdonald is the most visited place in Kuwait possibly more than the Mosque). Some suggestions I recommend dalkoptry and other Arabs who have racist ideas implemented in there brains is to go learn about the French Revolution, the Russian Revolution and how the USSR united people from all kinds of races, The Civil Rights Movement in the Untied States, The South African Movement against Racism in the 1980s, and many other movements and revolutions that effected how the west is today and why it flourished.
  • Kuwait was part of iraq under the ottoman empire and part of basra, the other major provinces at the time were Baghdad and Mosul. Before 1930 the area known as kuwait was part of iraq and there was no difference between the arabs in basra and kuwait. These bidoons (not Bedouin because they are completely different people) were people have been living in kuwait for decades before the independence of kuwait. They had family and links with iraq in cities like simawah and and were living in (Qadha) which is what kuwait was called before WW1,a district within the Basra Province. To say that the bidoon are iraqi refugees that stayed in kuwait after the liberation of kuwait just does not make sense. If the bidoon of kuwait are not kuwaitis then who the hell is? The persians or the indians immigrants! Most of the modern day kuwaitis have iraqi heritage, just look at the arab tribal last name, if they dont have an arab last name then there either persians or indians. PS i'm not bidoon but I like kuwait because they will always be apart of iraq , there might be a border which was bulit after WW1 but there is no difference between basra and kuwait and no difference between Baghadad and Basra.
