I have windows ME and want to do a new installation of windows XP home edition. would XP make my computer run faster, say for games, videos, etc?

    It depends on your exact system specifications, but I've used both and XP is by far the better. If your specs allow, upgrade now.

    It depends on how old your computer is and how much memory. If it has enough memory or it is new enough, I would suggest upgrading to XP, or just get a Macintosh.

    No. If anything, likely a little slower than what you're used to, for most software if that's such an old box. XP uses a heck of a lot more ram (about 350megs if it can get it) which takes away from resources for other programs.
    If you want to move to XP and have the same or better performance, up the hardware specs on your PC.
