According to the Bible, it was Methuselah, who died at 969... of old age :)

It's impossible to determine with absolute certainty who was the oldest living person ever.
However the longest lifespan, documented beyond reasonable doubt, is the 122 years 164 days of Jeanne Calment (1875–1997).

You can check other data and interesting stuff here:

The Bible is 100% Fact and if you do not believe that you cannot be a true believer of Jesus Christ. If you do not believe one part of it and you think it is untrue you make God a liar therefore there God be no savior. Why would you believe any of it if parts of it are wrong especailly if God declares that His Word is infallible.

World's Oldest Man Dies At The Age Of 138. A great-grand father believed to be the world's oldest man has died at the age of 138.
Habib Mian passed away early yesterday morning after a brief illness at his home in the Alwar district, Rajasthan, India.
According to records Habib was born on May 28, 1870.
The grand old man was a witness to the life and times of two kings of Jaipur, the dominance of the British Raj and the decades after the Jaipur princely state of the erstwhile Rajputana merged into the Indian Union after Independence.
The Limca Book of World Records recognises him as the oldest living man in the world in its 2005 edition.
But the Guinness Book of Records did not give him this recognition because his pension papers say he was born on May 20, 1878 at Rajgarh in Alwar district.
Habib Mian also held the distinction of being the oldest Haj pilgrim having visited Mecca in 2004 and the longest beneficiary of old age pension which he has received since 1938.Habib, who outlived his wife by 70 years, was buried at the Ghat Gate graveyard in the Alwar district, after the "Zuhar" (afternoon) prayers.
Though his birthday had become a public event ever his age came to people's notice, Habib Mian did not celebrate the day this year as he was distressed by the May 13 serial blasts in the city that claimed 68 lives

The Delaney sisters were remarkable for living to be one of the oldest, but moreso for living lively to the end of almost 100 years each, and both honoring what came before as they honored what they'd achieved. Black women, sisters, the youngest the first black woman dentist in her state and the other an honored teacher, lived together in old age, doing yoga, taking garlic, and living to be nearly 100 each, writing a wonderful book, "Having Our Say" that was made into a movie. They may not have lived longest, but they lived interesting and challenging lives and succeeded beyond odds that we can't imagine today. They died from very old, well lived, well served, lives. And incidentally, they were both drop dead gorgeous in their youth and at their time. Real catches, although, their love lifes weren't traditionally happy.

Of course it shouldn't need any defense because all people ought to see it what it really is. An ancient fable-book, with some (literally some) good morals here and there. Now if you're trying to prove it to be something differenet then from what I have mentioned, then that is defending it, then yes, for that person defending the Bible is necessary becaus of his own personal beliefs. The burden is on him to prove that a man lived to the age of 969. Now let's not get ourselves carried away here. You can still be a Theist and a Christian and not believe in that verse. If you belive Jesus is your savior, regardless if he was born "of the virgin" or not, then that is your own personal belief, I can't tough you. If you believe in an all loving and caring God that won't heal amputees (for example), then I can't tough you, that's your belief. But if you believe in a 969-year-old man, then you can meet me at Mcdonald's this upcoming Sunday and we'll worship the Ronald McDonald statue together.

The oldest person to ever live was a 138 year old Indian man. There is no legitimate record for Methuselah. Here's the link. I'm pretty sure that this is it. All info is in the article.

Around 120 is what I've always heard. Of course, verifiable birth certificates & ways of testing don't exist.

Some of the oldest people live in primitive and harsh conditions -- for example, the Himalayan Mountains around India.

Perhaps eating simple foods, staying physically active, watching little or no TV, and doing yoga and meditation is really good for you.

A person who believes in Jesus cannot just dismiss the Bible as just a book of tales, because Jesus himself believed in the Scriptures as the authoritative Word of God. When Jesus was on the earth, the Hebrew people only had the Old Testament (and still do today, obviously, although it is called the Torah). When Jesus quoted Scripture, do you think He would have quoted from something He did not wholeheartedly believe in?

If you read the Bible without faith in your heart and mind, it does not matter if you claim to believe in God and/or Jesus, you are going to get out of it what you put into it - a bunch of tales. But if you have faith that God is who He says He is, you would know that nothing is impossible for Him. We should stop criticizing God's plan for humanity and start believing Him at His Word. He is a wonderful God.

Who needs to live a long time when you have heaven to live in forever??
I don't know about all of you here, but I'd rather die tomorrow and see Jesus then to live forever in this crap-hole of a world.

Look. The Bible is infallible proof. I know that if this is true and if it's in the Bible, then it's true. Back in the Bible days, there was a cloud of vapor that kept the sun rays from hitting the Earth and all the people and things. So, people were able to live and live longer and longer. They lived so long until they started becoming evil. So, God took away that vapor cloud and of course he couldn't find anybody to go down and save and redeem us. He sent his son to die on the cross. And if you actually read the Bible, then you know the rest of the story.

Many religions have graced the face of this earth and captured man's devotion millenia before the Christian faith was even a dream..........

To believe in a higher power and calling is a natural instinct, but, to state with definativity that the Bible is an absolute cannot be supported.

Neither can Methuslea, who lived and died prior to the great flood (2304 BC) be documented to any reasonable degree. The first book of the Bible (Genesis) was written by Moses (1393-1273 BC-post-flood).

The only source for the longivity of Methusela can only come from Divine Revelation of the Christian faith.

In short, you would have to, once again, place your faith in something you can not see or quantatively prove, therefore making the Bible the oldest historical work of fiction (ENG. LIT. 201).

The oldest man of documented record is Habib Mian of India @ 138 y.o.

Well, in the biblical times God let people live years longer than now so that they could populate the Earth. But, also, God said after that that no man would live to be over 120. So, even though these people have documentation they may not be correct. It was alot easier to fake documents and change them back in those days.

Lets divide time periods and say that in ancient biblical times it was much different than today and it is reasonable to believe that someone could live to near a thousand years. Think how old Methuselah might have gotten had he gotten on the arc with noah instead of drowning. Might he have lived till now or forever. I would picture him in some sort of nursing home zoo on public display. When Jesus ressurected Lasarus I allowed all to live forever if they believe.
Now I am not that old but I recall a man that was interviewed on TV and was said to be 160 back in 1965 (the oldest person on earth), and yet there was another near Iran the same age. The one I saw on TV had wrinkles like portraits of Methuselah which makes me think that there is some truth there.
