Depends on the age and what they watch. But it can be if unsupervised.

Like anything, too much can be bad, but it's not a bad thing. It's not harmful unless children are watching porn or excessive violence all day.

Like anything else, everything in moderation. Too much exposure to Tv is toxic, especially when the boob tube becomes an active role model or guardian for the impressionable child.

Some television shows, yes. There are many things on TV that children don't need to see or hear. I remember my little girl went to a neighbors house without my permission she watched Twister. It scared her to death, after that when it rained she thought the house might blow away. This is just a simple example, there are many things much worse.

No. Popular television programming has a detrimental effect on children over the long term to include narrow attention span and an inability to solve simple problems.

Not to me... I have done very well career wise, and I learned more from tv than anywhere else, plus it can help relieve stress, even for children.

I think so yes...... Not necessarily if they are watching educational shows, and their time watching is limited though.

Mine has learned an awful lot from educational television programs disguised as silly cartoons. It's no substitute for babysitting or one-on-one interaction, of course, but it is a helpful tool in her quest for an education. Maybe one day, as a result, she'll grow to be an oft-hated, at times sarcastic, rarely appreciated user of AnswerBag, just like daddy.
