I don't respect celebrities. I like or loathe them. Celebrities should stay in the field they are good at and not wander into and pontificate on politics and morality.

Stephen Hawking, the physicist. Apparently through sheer will power, he has lived a long full life despite Lou Gherig's disease that was expected to kill him in his 20's. He is widely considered one of the smartest people on earth, yet wrote "A Brief History of Time" to be accessible to anyone with an 8th grade reading level. Despite severe disability, he has been married twice, fathering three children. He has traveled in space, and has appeared as a character on the Simpsons.
