  • On a 2000 model you want to check the length of the wires, especially where they attach from the power source and on the other end to the brake lights. They get rusty and can break (particularly if you live up north where the roads are salted in icy conditions). MAke sure they are following thier proper path, as they can get pinched when not properly cabled together and tacked.
  • If the first answer doesn't fix it, then check your grounds
  • Ck. the 'brake light switch' (near the top of the brake pedal lever) for 'power in & out' (with pedal depressed). Some are adjustable -- most, when faulty, require replacement (fast, easy & inexpensive)
