My PC has integrated graphics and no AGP slot so I cannot get a DX10 video card with more RAM than most PCs in the world right now.

My PC has digital media that I did not purchase from a Macroshaft-approved source. Ripping CDs doesn't line the coffers of corporate fat-cats the way repurchasing the music in a digital format does, therefore I am concerned about DRM. It might delete data!

My PC only has 704 MB RAM (768 MB minus the 64 MB I use for video). That isn't enough for Vista.

Vista has certain hardware requirements for certain pieces of the OS tooprate properly. You can get away with an out of date sound card, but I think a RAM requirement is at least 1GB.

The Home edition will not network.

Those are the only technical qualifiers for not upgrading. There are about a million more as to why you need to hold off.
