  • benching more than you weigh is good. double your weight is even better
  • I think it would depend on your weight.Don't compare what you can do in a certain lift to other's,just compare it to what you have done.I'm 245 and have benched 335, for me I'm not happy with it,I want 400.But when I reach 400,I'll probably want 450.
  • It depends on your body weight and your goals. For a thin framed male, who is not going for tons of power and strength, but rather to look cut, .8 - 1.0 x your body weight is decent (6'0" 160lb = 128-160lb max) If you a bigger guy, or a guy that is really looking for strength and power then 1.5 to 2.0 x your body weight is considered excellent. Few people can lift 2 x their body weight by the way. So don't feel bad. That would mean an average sized U.S. male (5'10" 190lbs) would want a max around 285 to 380. Obviously there are stronger people than that, but that's a good goal.
  • The average man should be able to bench press his own weight. Few actually can though.
