All I've ever used is soap and water from head to toe. Having beautiful, clean skin and great hair and nails all depends on a person's diet.

Olive oil. You can add castor oil to it if you have problem skin. Then after you cleanse it, wipe it down with very diluted apple cider vinegar (real, not "cider flavored vinegar."

Skip soap (even natural soaps); they're made with lye.

Definitely skip commercial facial cleansers. There's no reason to spend a bunch of money on nasty chemical detergents to "wash" your face with. Real ingredients are much better for your skin anyway.

Hi, I have started using apple cider vinegar on a cotton ball after I wash with an antibacterial soap. Cetaphyl is very good and recommended by Dermatologists for sensitive skin. The apple cider vinegar has worked wonders on my acne and left my skin with nice tone and a great glow. The cider vinegar can sting a bit and make your eyes water if you get too close to them. But you can dilute the vinegar if it is too much for you. I use it at night...does have a scent...but it is AWESOME.

i have found that my daughters baby soap works the best for me. I use any with no dyes or fragrances, and with one of those bath poufs for extra exfoliation for removing all the dirt and oil. You should always rinse your face with cool water, it closes your poors and that helps prevent nasties from gettin in them

I can recommend a fantastic soap I have been using it for years. It is Dr. Bonner's soap. The company is in Escondido,CA and has been making this soap for many decades. It is 100% natural and has natural scents. It is the harsh chemicals used in making soaps that cause skin problems, and with this soap the problem is gone. I also use this same soap for dishes, and cleaning everything around the house. It come in small bottles and lasts a long time. Helath food stores have it.

GOOD GRIEF!!!!!!!!! I am agog at some of the answers to your question!!!!!!!!!!! olive oil?? for oily skin?? get real!!!!!!!

    You MUST treat your oily skin with gentle cleansers;
    * the person on here who recommended Cetaphil is absolutely right.....BUT you can get store brands with the same ingredients for less money!!
    * and you can use soap, just be sure it's a soap for sensitive skin; Pears is good, so is Dr. Bronner's..also Dove and Caress.....my dermatologist told me this!!
    * Your body temperature is set by nature; DO NOT ever steam your face!!! if you want to open your pores, go out and run or do something to make you sweat; steaming the face is a HUGE no-no for problem skin!!
    * Using apple cider vinegar is ok, too, but DILUTE BY HALF WITH WATER!!!!!!! NEVER NEVER use it straight....
    * an even better thing would be to use plain old Witch Hazel......very gentle on the skin.....
    * Do rinse with COOL BUT NOT COLD water; NEVER NEVER ues extremes of water temperature on your skin.
WOW I could go on and on, but you get the idea.....
If you have any other questions, please let me know........by the way, I'm a retired makeup artist and have seen and heard just about everything related to skincare!!!!!!!!!!

Vichy Normaderm line of skin cleansers is an excellent product to consider. They have a face wash, toner, face/body scrub, pimple pen (dries up the pimple quick) and lotion. The chemical in this product is quite balanced and doesn't effect sensitive skin.

The best I've ever used was extra virgin olive oil. Coming in secound is organic sesame oil. Then i leave on emu oil at bedtime. It absorbs quickly and works wonders. None of these will clog your pores.

Cleaning your face and tightening pores:

    1) first, wash your face with a splash of WARM water. pat face dry.

    2) next, use a facial sauna(or a bowl of hot water) to put your face over (the steam will open your pores)

    3) splash your face with COLD water (this will close your pores and will stop dirt getting into your skin)

    4) finally- moisturise!

Clean 2-4 times a day [2 for dry skin, 4 for very oily skin]

DONT FORGET TO MOISTURIZE even if your face is oily, you don't want to have patches of dry and oily skin (it's impossible to care for).

Mix 4 oz. of witch hazel with 1 tablet of uncoated and crushed aspirin or tylenol, use as your toner and it will do wonders

Don't forget to exfoliate (once a week-once a month) once again, even if your skin is very dry

If you have a doozy of a blemish use toothpaste, sometimes it works but it will definatley fasten the drying-out of your zit

Visine removes redness if your zit is a big problem

I've heard that applying fresh urine with a cotton swab works, but haven't tried it.

Remember: cleanse, exfoliate, tone, moisturize, product

In the kitchen are all sorts of things you could try. Mash up an avocado or banana and rub on your face, add some ground up oats. Grind rice in a coffee grinder and it makes a good cleanser with a little yogurt or something creamy to make it into a paste. For a rinse, try lemon juice if you need something astrigent.

I will use nothing on my face other than Clinique.
Please, dont use soap, it will dry your skin out.
Also, I find Neutrogena Deep Clean is a great clenser too (I use it every morning along with Cinique clenser, toner, moisuriser). ; )
THIS IS A COMMERCIAL!! "Nice skin!" "Yes! It Clinique!"

    nothing.
if you really want to clean your skin, drive out to a construction yard and find one of those big piles of sand. jump in it, and roll around a lot. do some flips, some dives, whatever. then go home and take a shower. i dont care about the scientific reason, but i know your skin is soft and clean as all hell.

    Soap?
Although soap can be drying, especially if you have sensitive or overly dry skin.
There are many different kinds of facial washes and cleaners on the market, some are soap free.
I would try to get some little samples of a few different ones, and just see which ones you like best.

I dont know what you have at home. But a cheap way is to mix powdered milk and water, and stick it on your face. For a couple of minutes. Ive never been so clever to conjour something good up to clean my skin with. I buy anything I really need to do that. But good question. :) ...conjour"... :D
