My cell phone battery completely discharges within a day while at home, even if I don't use the phone. I have a full signal and the cell site is about 300 yards away. When I am out of town, the battery lasts about three days on a charge. Why is this so?

If your device is new and has internet access, the tower closest to you is probably EVDO, and your device is constantly syncing. If you have internet blocked from your provider, you need to change a setting in your phone so it does not try to connect to the web. Phones that attempt to connect to the internet burn up tons more battery than those used just for voice and SMS.

Being a Verizon customer that if I am in an area that does not have EVDO my cell phone is constantly looking for that signal and thus eats more battery. On the other hand being in an EVDO enabled area my phone does not need to keep searching and in turn my battery lasts much longer.

its weird! it should consume less power when the signal level is high. How many times have you brought ur phone out of town and observed that it lasts long? I

depending on where you live and where you go, if you are in the middle of the city your phone is constantly communicating to cell towers to acquire a signal, which would be mostly digital in the city. depending on where you go alot o f the time your phone will swithc to analog, which takes up much less power and is more efficiant

I think it depends on the kind of cell phone you have, what you have stored on it and if it drains your battery. Also it depends on the age of your phone. Some phone batteries drain out really quickly.

Try googling the model of your phone with the phrase 'product review'. That could unlock some clues for you.

Oh and as a final point, it could be your battery charger or simply the socket the charger plugs into on the phone. Many reasons.
