Have you heard that if you sing Twinkle, Twinkle Little star while you are washing your hands it works out to be long enough to do a proper hand wash?

    Did you know that the "Alphabet Song" has the same rythm as "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star", which would also suffice for a proper handwash?

    My son is in first grade and earlieer this week we received an email form the school (swine flu pandemic) which mentioned how they teach the kids to sing the alphabet song (same tune as Twinkle twinkle) while washing their hands

    I've heard it, but it's actually nonsense. Hand washing should be done with water of a sufficient temperature to kill bacteria, etc. along with plenty of soap then make sure to rinse everything well. Just running water over your hands sometimes only gives the germs a nice comfortable breeding ground. Children should be taught that hot water won't burn their hands off right away, but they also have to learn how to control water temps too. Most parents think just holding their hands under water singing a song is enough... Oh well..;)
