Help answer this question below.
get a job where you are now, save up money to relocate, to go to NY for a week or two and to float on.
Before you move there, go there for a week, check out the area, check on apartments and living situations, set up interviews before you get there and interview while you are there. See what area you like, what is close to where you might work and all of that jazz.
Then when you get back to where you currently live, start planning to pack and all that. If you nail one of the jobs you now have employment. So let them know you need two weeks before you can start. Go back to NY, get yourself a place to live, move, start your new job and there you go.
I've done this several times throughout my life and believe me, it's all in the setup..you do not want to just move to NY with no money and no job and "figure it out" when you get there. Save up enough to cover the move, the first 2 months of rent, food, necessities and some money to float on for a month. You never can expect the unexpected...but you can plan for it.
42nd Street, a mini-skirt and very high heels. Good luck!
First develop some outstanding skills, then develop an outstanding employment record. If you're the sharpest typist, artist, actress, retail manager, or any other job, then you can have a good life in NY. If you're just another me-too wannabee, though, you'll find NYC is a brutal place to be unemployed. Rent, food, and everything else will cost you three times what it would cost in the rust belt or other areas of the country.
