Help answer this question below.

Do you think people's ability to use proper grammar has gone down because of the internet. Or do you think they just don't want to.

    I think that some people want to use correct grammer and they just don't know the rules. I do think the internet hasn't helped, but then there are other things that have also contributed. For instance, text messaging on phones! Using proper english is a pain in the a** when it takes 3 clicks for a single letter, so people get lazy. I think people's spelling has likely gotten worse thanks to spell check, which is funny if you think about it. I know mine has gotten worse though because I write mostly on the computer and I've become more reliant on the spell checker. I don't have to be as careful because I know it will catch most of misspellings.

    My abillity to use proper grammar was gone before we had internet. It is due to lack of teaching and lack of learning on my part.

    people are that lazy and quick to just spout out an answer. I "sometimes" take time to make things perfect, but i find that only a few marks are really needed to get the point across

    Personally I know I can write well if I choose to do so, and in my essays for any class I've always used proper grammar. So I think it's because I just don't want to.

    Well, I would say it isn't as simple as any one reason. Overall, the problem is more deeply laid in society period than any one facet. When it boils down to it, we don't all take the time we should to think out HOW we're going to say something, just what we want understood in the end. The best way outside of schooling to get a great grasp on the way grammar should flow, copious amounts of reading really has a way of drilling grammar into your head.

    No, not because of the internet. I feel it is because of the new teaching styles and the amount that grammar is stressed in schools, public especially. I am one who switched from catholic school to public school's in third grade. The difference was insane! My skills since then have weakened, mainly due to lack of caring.
