Do you think that (objective/academic) comparitive world religion should be taught in high school?

    Sure, why not. Simply saying there are religions in the world and stating the purposes of these religions won't necessarily make our children part of some cult.

    it might increase understanding of other thought processes and other ways of life and encourage young people to be more tolerant and accepting ... but then there's that whole separation of church and state issue to contend with

    We had world cultures in highschool. It wasn't primarily based in the teaching of other religions but it was a major focus of it. We learned about all the major religions. I would have been interested in a deeper course though.

    Not in publicly funded schools. There is supposed to be a complete seperation of church and state in this country, and the teaching of religion is a passive endorsement of it.
